Jack Robert Waddle, age 67, of Fayette County, Ohio, traveled his path to heaven in the early morning hours of April 6, 2018, surrounded by his loving wife and children at home.
Born February 27, 1951, to Marion Lewis and Helen June Fisher Waddle, Jack was a 1969 graduate of Miami Trace High School. Jack went on to play basketball at Carroll College, Helena, Montana, where he made many life-long friends and developed a love for Montana and Glacier National Park before receiving his Business Administration degree in 1973. Jack was a sixth generation life-long farmer in Concord Township, Fayette County. Despite many health problems, Jack maintained his lovable sense of humor and persevered to fulfill his love of farming and the land. On June 17, 1979, he wed Carol Jean Rex and they were blessed with 38 wonderful years of marriage, three loving children, and eight grandchildren whom he adored.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, along with his uncles: James and Marvin Waddle, Max Fisher, and aunts: Jirdena Waddle and Rose Ellen Fisher Neilson.
Jack loved his community and was active as much as possible. He was a member of the Concord Township Volunteer Fire Department, an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, and belonged to many farming organizations, including the Fayette County Pork Producers, Agronomy Committee, Buckeye Countrymark Board and Farm Bureau. A proud Miami Trace Panther, 4-H and FFA member, Jack was a member of the 1968-69 undefeated SCOL basketball team, a 1969 Christman award nominee, enjoyed being a camp counselor, showing livestock at the Fayette Co. fair, and received his State FFA Degree. Through his children, Jack was an avid supporter of Fayette County 4-H, the Miami Trace FFA Program and the Miami Trace Lady Panther basketball and volleyball programs. He was also a faithful Ohio State Buckeye fan.
Jack is survived by his wife Carol; children: Clayton (Natalie) Waddle, Rebecca (Brian) Wright, and Laura (Branen) Weade; grandchildren: Lily, Elisabeth, Andrew, and Micah Waddle, Rex and soon to be born baby brother Weade, and Eliza and Ethan Wright. He is also survived by his sister, Wendy (Ron) Mansfield; brother, O. Jay Waddle; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Jane and Tom Steinhauser and Mike and Linda Rex, as well as, aunt: Virginia (Marvin) Waddle. Jack will also be missed by niece: Erin (Brian) Driggers; nephews, Wade (Kym) Mansfield and Zac Mansfield, along with several close cousins, with whom he made so many wonderful childhood memories on the farm.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, from 4-7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Washington Court House. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, April 11,2018, at 12:00 p.m. at the Lees Creek United Church of Christ. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
