William 'Bud' Mcconnell

April 21, 1930 — January 21, 2017

William “Bud” McConnell, age 86, of Wilmington, passed away on Saturday evening, January 21, 2017, surrounded by his loving family at Miami Valley Medical Center.

Born April 21, 1930, in Warren County, the son of Robert C. (Grace) McConnell and Ellen Veidt (Lum) Hopkins.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Botts McConnell.

A 1949 graduate of Wilmington High School, Bud retired from DP &L,  as a gas supervisor.  In his retirement, he owned and operated B&M Construction with his wife, Mary.

He was a longtime member of Gideon’s International, Port William-Lumberton and Wilmington Senior Citizens.  He was also a member of Wilmington Bible Baptist Church.

Bud was the chairman of his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sports fan club.  He also enjoyed the McDonalds Breakfast Club, fishing, camping, woodworking, hunting, motorcycling and playing cards and dominos.

In addition to his wife, Bud is survived by children: Joy (John) Ames and Sharon (Mark) Dome, all of Wilmington; grandchildren: Jody (Tracy) Ames, Jennifer (David) Carver, Christie Dome, Nicholas (Liz) Dome; great grandchildren; Lauren, Daniel “DJ” and Colin William Ames, Mia and Maxwell Carver; sisters: Martha Blocker (Wayne, dec) Joyce of Midland and Lea (Bruce) Renner of Jamestown; along with several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded by his granddaughter, Stacey Dome.

A memorial service will be held at the Wilmington Bible Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 6:00 pm.
