William A. Hale

William A. Hale, age 96, of Sabina, passed at home on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.

Born on April 30, 1927, in North Little Rock, Arkansas, the son of Homer and Josephine Smith Hale.

After serving in the United States Marines, Bill worked for Hosler Construction as a skilled cabinate maker and then worked and  retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base, where he was a model maker..   Until the time of his passing, Bill was an avid golfer, played pool, and loved to fly.  He was especially proud of the fact that he built his own home.  Bill was a member of the Wilmington Church of Christ.

He is survived by his children: Janell (Chris) Carson of Forest City, Iowa, Jana (Kevin) Reser and Jay (Debbie) Hale, all of Wilmington.  Also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren: Greg (Lisa) Carson, Rhonda Hale, Chad Hale, Derek (Rachelle) Hale, Keith (Sam) Hale, Elizabeth (Jay) Ames; greatgrandchildren: Lily Carson, Reagan Hale, Tanner Strouth, Isabelle Hale, Adron Hale, Leighton Hale, Sawyer Hale, Kinze Hale, Livey Hale, Garrett Hale and Cole Hale; siblings: Beverly Cole, Martha Williams, Laura Swope, Paul Hale and Lewis Hale; Bill was also survived by his  faithful companions, Jim Bauman and son in law Dale Thomas.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne Vandervort Hale; grandson Nicholas Ames; faithful companion Lillian Bauman, and her daughter, Patricia Thomas; as well as siblings: Frances Smith, Homer Hale, Gwendolyn Cole, Jim Hale, Evelyn Barker, and Paulette Hale.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.  Burial to take place at New Antioch Cemetery.  Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, has been entrusted with arrangements.
