Wayne R. Mitchell

Wayne R. Mitchell, age 86, of New Vienna, passed away at home on Saturday, December 7, 2024.

Born in Sabina on January 28, 1938, he was the son of the late Harley and Mildred Woodruff Mitchell.

Wayne was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Farquer Mitchell, in 2018.

A graduate of the University of Dayton, Wayne earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering.  He worked various jobs in construction and retired, after more than 20 years, as a Mechanical Engineer with the Plumbing and Pipefitters Union.

Wayne loved to work.  He always kept busy tinkering in the garage, remodeling houses and farming.  Alongside his wife, he enjoyed horse racing and gardening but was happiest at home surrounded by those he loved dearly.

Wayne is survived by his two daughters: Michele (Kenny) Burdette of New Vienna and Marsha Mitchell of Wilmington.  Also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren: Bruce Bartruff, Leslie Simpson, Kaylea Burdette, Desirae Maxwell, Jeanne Mitchell, Casey (Jason) Lilly and Amber Mitchell; along with numerous great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Wayne was preceded in death by brothers: David Mitchell and Eugene Mitchell.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 4-6pm at Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11am.  Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery, New Vienna.
