Vernon H. Freeland, 93, of Lees Creek passed away on February 16, 2016 at home in Pickerington, Ohio.
He was born on April 22, 1922 in Wayne Township, Clinton County, the son of Oscar and Caroline Rose Freeland. He grew up in Clinton and Highland Counties. Vernon was a graduate of Wayne Township and served in the Army during World War II.
He married Goldie Tubbs on November 20, 1940; she preceded him in death in 2012. Vernon proudly managed Bernard’s Turkey Farm for 15 years but retired at the early age of 42 due to medical conditions. Vernon and Goldie lived outside Lees Creek until her death, at which time he relocated to Columbus to be close to family.
Surviving are his daughter, Ruth Ann (Mike) Lanter, grandsons Scott (Elizabeth) and Bryan (Carissa) and 5 great grandchildren. Also left to cherish his memory are his sister Ruth Kincaid of Leesburg, and special friends Rick, Kelly, Cody and Shelby Williams, Susie Starkey, Jo Vance and Clarence Cramer.
His daughter, Frances Freeland, preceded him in death.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:30 am at the Littleton Funeral Home in Sabina with burial in the Centerville Cemetery in Lees Creek. Friends may call on Saturday from 10 until 11:30 at the funeral home.
