Thomas G. Foster, Jr.

Thomas G. Foster, Jr., age 87, of Sabina, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022.

Born in Sabina on April 5, 1935, the son of the late Thomas G. and Elizabeth Myler Foster.

Tom graduated from Sabina High School and went on to receive a bachelor's degree from Miami University, where he was a member of the TKB Fraternity.  A Veteran of the United States Air Force, Tom continued service to his county in the Reserves, stationed at Clinton County Air Force Base.  He was the third-generation owner/operator of Foster's Department Store and started The Daisy Patch in Wilmington and later, expanded to Sabina.

Tom was a member of the Sabina Church of Christ.  In his younger years, Tom was active in Scouts – becoming an Eagle Scout himself and a Scout Leader later.  He was a Councilman At-Large of the City of Wilmington and past-president of the Rotary Club and Kawanis.  Tom was also a member of the Sabina Masonic Lodge.  He was a devoted craftsman and enjoyed woodworking; together, with his wife, they enjoyed doing home improvements and renovating rental properties.  An avid traveler, Tom had nearly accomplished visiting all 50 states!

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Betty Young Foster.  Also left to cherish Tom's memory are children: Thomas G. (Jennie) Foster, III of Melbourne, Florida, Graham (Kathy) Foster of Batavia, Jenny Foster of Wilmington, and Melissa (Danny) Harp of Sabina; grandchildren: Andrew, Jordan, Brendan and Charlie Foster, Rachel Cuddihee, Sara Throckmorton, Hannah and Brady Harp, Gavin Hubbard and Grace Neanover; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Jody Gray of Wilmington; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Bowers Foster, in 1989.

Family will receive friends at Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, from 12Noon – 2pm; a graveside service will follow at Sabina Cemetery.
