Susanne (Peelle) Kenney

Susanne Peelle Kenney, age 91, of Sabina, passed peacefully on Saturday, July 29, 2023.

Born in Xenia on January 26, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Winifred Holmes Peelle.

Susanne was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Marvin D. Kenney, on August 5, 2001.  The two were united in marriage on June 16, 1951.

Susanne was 1950 graduate of Sabina High School.  She worked for the US Postal Service and retired after 26 years.  Susanne was active on the family farm – driving tractors, chasing and nursing livestock, she kept a huge garden and was an avid lover of horses.

She was a member of the Sabina Friends Church, and, throughout her lifetime, Susanne was an active member of various organizations: Sabina Senior Citizens, Clinton County Garden Club, Sabina Historical Society, 4H, and Clinton County Farm Bureau, to name a few.  She was also the treasurer of the Sabina Library, a 4H advisor for many years, was an Outstanding Woman of Clinton County, last of the Wilson Township Grange, and instrumental in starting the Daylily Class at the Clinton County Fair, and she was also the Editor of ‘In and Around Sabina Town’.

Susanne was steadfast and hardworking.  Showing kindness and grace in any situation, she set a fine example for her beloved family.  She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, taking pride and joy in her family.

She is survived by children: Katherine (Harold) Wallen of Lynchburg, Cheryl (Don) Geer of New Vienna, Robert (Jimette) Kenney of Washington Court House, Judith Abercrombie of Winston, GA, Andrew Kenney and Steven (Dawn) Kenney, all of Sabina.

Also left to cherish her memory are grandchildren: Hillary (Derek) Downing, Natalie (Ryan) Brunk, Laura (Kasey) Smith, Sara Geer, Jason (Kayla) Geer, Rob (Monica) Kenney, Melissa Gebhardt, Justin (Stephanie) Abercrombie, Jesse Kenney, Brittany (Brian) Noah, and Blair (Levi) Lamb; 19 great-grandchildren, with number 20 on the way; and beloved granddog, Sadie Sue.

In addition to her husband, Susanne was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Stephanie Kenney Hill, and sister, Ina Jean Miller.

Memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Sabina Historical Society, Sabina Library, Richland Township Fire & EMS, and Community Care Hospice.

A private graveside service will be held at Sabina Cemetery. Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, has been entrusted with arrangements.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Sabina Church of Christ on Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 2pm - 5pm.
