Shirley June Brooks, age 79, of West Union, passed away on Saturday, April 30,2016 at Adams County Manor.
Born on June 7, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Lowell Edwin and Dorothy Mae (Foster) Sanderson.
Shirley was a 1956 graduate of Wilmington High School and worked as a nurse’s aide for 46 years in various facilities.
She is preceded by her husband, Lewis Clinton Brooks.
Shirley is survived by her children: Julie Ann Brooks Wilcher of Sabina and Timothy Joseph Sanderson of West Union; sisters: Juanita Snell of Wilmington, Patty Shope of Clarksville, Lola Stewart of Seaman, Barbara Ledford of Wilmington, and Geneva Wing of Texas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley is preceded in death by her children: John W. Sanderson and Terry Lynn DeShiver; grandchildren: Ashley Wilcher and Timothy Joseph Sanderson, Jr.; and siblings: Evelyn Bell Sanderson, Barry Allen Sanderson, Bernice Jones and Betty Bottom.
Family will receive friends at Littleton Funeral Home on Thursday, May 5 from 11-12Noon, when a funeral service will begin. Burial to follow at Clinton Memory Gardens. Memorial Contributions are requested to Hospice of Hope.
