Scotty C. Woodgeard

Scott C. Woodgeard, age 45, of Mt. Sterling, passed away unexpectedly on his favorite holiday, Halloween, Sunday, October 31, 2021.

Born on December 3, 1975, he was the son of the late Kenneth C. and Cathy J. Curtis Woodgeard.

Scotty was a Wilmington High School graduate.  He worked as a machinist at American Tool for most of his adult life.  Scotty was an avid trickster; he loved magic tricks and playing tricks on people.  He enjoyed motorcycles and anything motorcycle related, playing pool, cards, wrestling, and weightlifting.  He was a true kid at heart and loved to play with toys, build forts, be outside, and watch and play football.  In high school, Scotty played football – his jersey number was 9, a number that became “his number” for the remainder of his life.

He had a true passion for music and could easily find songs to associate with life’s events during specific times.  He loved to dance, write poetry, and express himself in varying creative ways.  Scotty was truly the life of the party.  He was genuinely hospitable, giving, and kind to children.  Although he had a rough exterior, he possessed a true and steady awareness of himself.  He was impulsively brave… brave enough to live his life to the fullest, with no concern of consequences.  Scotty was not one to ever take life for granted.  He accepted other people for who they were and appreciated the differences between them.  Perceived by others as a “rough” or “dark”, Scotty’s larger than life heart and kind disposition will never be forgotten by those who really knew him.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Micah Woodgeard of Mowrystown, Montanna (Jordan) Reardon of Indiana, and Allysiah Woodgeard of Minnesota; grandchildren: Clayton, Oliva and Zachary; and sisters: Joni (Marie) Bayes of Mt. Sterling and Michelle Dalton-Hagenmaier of Wilmington.

Scotty will also be remembered by his nieces and nephew: Adryanna Bayes, Contessa, Randi, Marietta, and Robbie Hagenmaier; several aunts, uncles, and cousins, including special cousins: Jerri ‘Cricky’ Woodgeard, Stacy ‘Buck’ Osborne, Denny Osborne and Angelina Osborne.

Memorial contributions would be greatly appreciated to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

Services for Scotty, with burial at Miller Cemetery in Wilmington, will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.  Littleton Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
