Robert Cole, age 74, of Wilmington, passed peacefully, at home, after a very brief illness on Friday, June 30, 2017.
Born on September 5, 1942 in Wilmington, Bob was the son of Russell and Zora Grooms Cole.
He worked in road construction and had a knack for repairing watches and clocks.
Bob is survived by his wife, Freeda Sturgill Cole. The two were married in 1962.
Also left to cherish his memory is a son, James (Laura) Cole; grandchildren: Jessica Cole, Erica (Victor) Pennekamp, Monica Cole, Aubrey Cole, Courtney Cole, and Andrew Picklesimer; and great-grandchildren: Hailey Baldwin, Ariana Cole, and Daniel Moore. Bob is also survived by his sisters: Janie (Robert) Hampton, Evelyn (John) Tedrick, and Susie Cole; sister in-law, Linda Cole; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by a son, Bobby D. Cole, and a brother, Lester “Bud” Cole.
Graveside services will be held at 10am on Monday, July 3, 2017, at New Antioch Cemetery.
