LT Col Robert Neil Nunn USAF (Ret.), age 83, of West Chester, passed peacefully on Friday, February 7, 2025.
Born in Sabina on June 4, 1941, he was the son of the late Robert W. and Susanna H. Nunn. Bob was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Sally Murphy Nunn, in 2019.
Bob started his college education at The Ohio State University after graduating from Sabina High School and went on to obtain a bachelor's at Wilmington College in 1965. He joined the Air Force the following year. Bob went through pilot training in 1966 at Williams Air Force Base in Arizona before heading out to Hahn Air Force Base in Germany to join the 10th Tactical Fighter Squadron flying F4 phantoms. During his time at Hahn AFB Bob went on to continue his education by obtaining a Master of Science through the University of Arkansas. Also, in that in that time, Bob met Sally, who was teaching on base. The couple traveled extensively across Europe, Africa, and the Far East. At home, they traveled much of the United States.
Upon retiring with many accolades and military honors from the Air Force, Bob and Sally lived in Springfield, Virginia. In 1989, they moved to their forever home in West Chester. Bob spent his retirement owning and operating a Hallmark Store with his sister, Debbie. He was a faithful member of the Lees Creek United Church of Christ and participated in many church events.
Left to cherish his memory is his sister, Deborah (Robert) Nichols of Wilmington; sister-in-law Sandra Larson; nieces: Stephanie (Steve) Rieman of Mason, Erin (Dominic) Sansalone of Cincinnati, and Kellie (James Bewley) Nichols of Brooklyn, NY; along with great nieces: Megan Rieman and Vera Bewley. Bob was a master of maintaining friendships throughout his life's journey and is survived by numerous friends from every season in his life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be directed to Hospice of Cincinnati.
A visitation at Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 10:30 am until the time of service at 12 Noon. Following the service, a burial with military honors will take place at Centerville Cemetery, Lees Creek; all are invited to join Bob's family for lunch, fellowship, and storytelling afterwards.
