Robert Therald Kirk Sr., age 99, of Montgomery, Highland, and Clinton Counties in Ohio, passed away peacefully on the morning of March 15, 2024.

He was born May 31, 1924, in Clinton County, Ohio son of the late James Edward Kirk and Mary Kirk. He was the youngest of 4 siblings and the last to go. His siblings were Lionel Kirk, Mildred Seaman, and Edward Dale Kirk (Rose Kirk). He was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Kirk, grandchildren Tanner Kirk, Brittany Kirk, and great grandchild Abram Nance.

Robert was a proud World War II veteran who served on the USS Piedmont. After the war, he came back to Bowersville, Ohio. He then started a career at NCR in Dayton, Ohio as a Tool and Die Maker. He was at NCR for over 32 years. After that he moved to Highland County, where he continued to work for himself up until a few years ago. He was a proud member of the Highland County Senior Citizens Center, VFW, and American Legion until his wife Barb, passed away.

He is survived by two sons, Robert T. Kirk Jr, (Jacque Kirk, dec), & Linda Kirk, of Xenia and James Kirk of Wilmington. Grandchildren: Robyn Danku, Tammi & Keith Carpenter, Ben & Kristi Kirk, Erynn & Luis Guzman, Gabriel & Lauren Kirk, Caleb & Jessica Kirk, Jacob & Bradi Kirk, Brooke Kelch, Hope Kirk, and AJ Kirk. Great grandchildren: Isaac Danku, Ashley Danku, Abigail & Alex Noyola, Elijah Danku, Emmie Danku, Ian Danku, Kelly Carpenter & Diamond Carpenter, Grace Kirk, Owen Kirk, Scott Kirk, Cayla Kirk, Hanna Kirk, Samuel Kirk, Thomas Kirk, Rosa Kirk, Angel Kirk, Jose Kirk, Brody Kirk, Jase Kirk, Adyra Kirk, Jaylyn Stanley, Pierce Stanley, Colton Patton; and a great great grandchild Oaklee Danku. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and their families. Special friends Darren Daugherty and family, Russ & Dedee Steen, Rachel Davis, Derrick Ison, and many nieces and nephews.  A special Thank You to the entire Hospice Care Team, especially Amanda and Tracy, and American Pride Veteran Care.

He has said that a highlight for him and, “one for the ages” was the night he was recognized as the Hometown Hero at the Wilmington Varsity Football game on September 1, 2023, and his Honor Flight Trip. He loved everyone from the Honor Flight group, especially Kelly and her son.

He wanted everyone to know, “I have lived a really good life!”

Funeral Services will be held at Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 11:30am.  Friends may call from 10am until the time of service.  Burial to follow at Good Hope Cemetery.
