Richard Eugene Stinson, age 79, of Wilmington stepped into eternity on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Clinton Memorial Hospital Hospice Care.
Born in Columbus on June 30, 1942, Gene was the son of the late Ralph and Betty Donahoe Stinson.
Gene is survived by his wife, Shelia Straight Stinson. The two were united in marriage on September 29, 2005.
Gene was a graduate of Chillicothe High School and continued his education, earning a Bachelors Degree from Cincinnati Bible Seminary. He was in full-time ministry for over 30 years and after retirement started a nonprofit renewal ministry, which helped many in their times of need. Gene enjoyed teaching and preaching in the various churches he attended over the years. An active pilot, he enjoyed taking trips and traveling overseas. Gene loved loving people and always looked for ways to pour into people's lives.
In addition to his wife, Gene is survived by sons: Kevin (Beth) Stinson of Jamestown, Jeff (Jennifer) Stinson of Xenia, and Troy Stinson of Zanesville, and daughter, Sasha (Jordan) Squibb; along with sisters: Jackie (Marvin) Tunnell of Jasper, MO and Karen (Dave) Ramey of Jamestown. Also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren: Matthew (Jillian) Stinson, Bradley Stinson, Taylor Stinson, Jessica Stinson, and TJ Stinson as well as great-grandsons: Tucker, Levi, and Leo Stinson.
In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his first wife, and mother of his children; Lana Huffman Stinson, who passed away on September 22, 2004.
Family will receive friends at A House of Prayer (AHOP) on 282 Stelton Rd, Xenia, 45385. on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, from 11AM – 1PM followed by the funeral service at 1PM. Burial, held at the convenience of the family, will be in Sabina Cemetery.
