Rachel Moore Lewis, age 91, of Washington Court House, formerly of Leesburg, passed peacefully on Friday, December 30, 2016 surrounded by her children.
Born in Springfield, Ohio on January 12, 1925, Rachel was the daughter of Ben and Leona Reames DeVore.
Rachel was a past member of Chapel of Hope in Greenfield. She retired from Ferno Washington, where she was an assembler. She enjoyed oil painting, crafting and making ornaments for her friends and grandchildren. Rachel was a beloved participant in various activities with her family, such as tailgating at Buckeye Games.
She is survived by her husband, C. Leo Lewis of Georgetown. Rachel is also survived by her children, Treva (Joe) Schmittauer of Pickerington, and W. Michael Moore of Marysville, WA. Also left to cherish her memory are granddaughters: Tracy (Erik) Hall of Gallipolis, Ashley (Adam) Kaylor of Pt. Pleasant, WV, and Kaysi (Joe) Bujniewicz of Blacklick; 9 step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Ben DeVore of California; sister in-law, Evelyn Flint of Washington Court House; step-daughter Leona (Bob) Knisley of Mason; and step-daughter in-law, Marilyn Lewis.
Rachel is preceded in death by her first husband, Robert C. Moore, who passed July 8, 1992. Also preceding are 5 sisters and a step-son, David Lewis.
Family will receive friends at Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, on Thursday, Januray 5, 2017, from 11am-1pm, when a funeral service will begin. Burial will follow at the Sabina Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are strongly suggested to a local food pantry. Rachel’s family would like to give a special thank-you to the staff at Court House Manor; because of you, her space was made her own and she enjoyed her home for the last seven years. Special thanks to Heartland Hospice, as well.
