Michael J. Leisring

Michael J. Leisring passed peacefully on February 24, 2021, at the age of 71.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Hazel Leisring; son, Elias Leisring (Brooke Harris); grandchildren: Henry Leisring, Harper Leisring, and Lena Crabtree; and siblings: Donna Niehaus and Patricia Lang. He is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Leisring and father, Lawrence Leisring.

Michael was born on January 17,1950, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Dorothy and Lawrence Leisring. A fantastic year to be born. America was reaching for the stars, and healing the wounds of the second World War. Growing up during the golden age of free range kids, he met life long friend John Parker. A friendship born in Kindergarten, lasted a lifetime; built on bicycle trips to Cincinnati, running from school to grab a White Castle for lunch, and playing outside long past the streetlights call.  He graduated from Reading High School in 1968. With many of his friends, and a strong heart for America, Michael proudly enlisted for the United States Navy and volunteered for the Vietnam War.  The Navy may have shown him the world, but his return home would find him on a path to his lifetime love, Hazel Howard.  He married Hazel in the autumn of 1976. They had their first, and only, child, Elias, in 1977.

Michael loved all things creative; woodworking, leather crafting, stained glass, and anything musical.  His love for nature, and the outdoors was only surpassed by his passionate love and commitment to his wife, family, and grandchildren.  He was loving, quickly passionate, positive, generous, and above all, the most loyal person a friend or family could wish for.  Michael was a Christian, who loved Christ, and shared his passion and joy in Christ with many people. A member of Branch Hill Baptist Church for more than 30 years. He volunteered at the Miami Valley Gun Club, and spent many weekends lovingly wrangling his grandchildren.

A graveside ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, March 6, 2021, at 12:30 pm at the Rest Haven Memorial Park, Cincinnati. Pastor Arnold Dykes will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Michael's life.  Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, has been entrusted with arrangements.
