Melvin Lee Miller

Melvin Lee Miller, age 87, of Blanchester, passed away December 19, 2018, at Continental Manor, Blanchester.

Born on December 22, 1930, in Hamilton County, the son of Melvin F. Miller and Edith Taylor Miller.

Lee graduated from Milford High School in 1948.  He served in the US Army and was a Korean War Veteran. He retired from Queen City Metro in 1986, where he served as a driver, trainer, dispatcher and road supervisor.  Lee went on to serve on the Village Council of Blanchester and, later, served as the Mayor from 1982-1996; he served the community for 17 years.  Lee was the founder and Chief the Blanchester Life Squad and served on the Blanchester Fire Department for over 15 years.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Janet Freeland Miller. They were united in marriage on December 10, 1952.

He is survived by his children: David (Ronetta) Miller, Dennis (Marjorie) Miller and Diana Miller. Also, left to cherish his memory are grandchildren: Charlotte Ottensen-Price (Afton) Stephanie Ottesen, and Nick Murphey and Jeremy Mitchell; and great grandchildren: Harold Fout, Rey, Jordan, Justice and Braxton Otteson-Price.

In addition to his wife, Lee was also preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Ottesen (Steve), a son, Donald Miller, and a granddaughter, April Murphey.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lee Miller Memorial Fund which will benefit the Blanchester Downtown Diner, a donation only restaurant where guests pay what they can and often above and beyond to pay for the meals of others in need.  ℅First National Bank of Blanchester, 121 East Main Street, Blanchester, OH  45107.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at the Grace United Methodist Church in Blanchester, from 11am – 1pm, when a funeral service will begin.  Burial to follow at Blanchester IOOF Cemetery. Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, has been entrusted with arrangements.
