Lois L. (Black) Shumaker

Lois L. Shumaker, age 86, passed peacefully at her Wilmington home on Tuesday, November 20, 2018. Born in Scioto County on December 30, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Gladys (Brown) Black. Lois is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, James H. Shumaker, of Wilmington. The two were married on September 28, 1950. Lois loved flowers and gardening and was an active member of the Wilmington Garden Club. She was also very active in the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. In addition to her husband, Lois is survived by her children: Connie (Rick) Adams and Gregory (Leslie) Shumaker, all of Wilmington. Also left to cherish her memory are grandchildren: Christopher (Dawn) Shumaker, Stacie (Chuck) Older, Nicholas (Amy) Shumaker, Michael (Michele) Adams and Brian (Amanda) Adams; 11 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a brother, Richard Black; and a cherished niece, Beverly (John) Simmons. Lois is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: David Black and Harvey Black, Jr. Family will receive friends for a graveside service at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington, on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at 11am. Littleton Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
