Linda J. (Hollis) Mattingly

Linda J. Mattingly, 68, of Dandridge, Tennessee, and formerly of Sabina, Ohio, passed unexpectedly on December 21, 2022. She was born on August 25, 1954 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Elmo G. and Anna L. Case Hollis, and is survived by her husband of 45 years, Dennis Mattingly, and two sons, Quinn R. (Ngan Nguyen) Mattingly, of Hoi An, Viet Nam and Kyle A (Trinh Mai) Mattingly, of Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam, and one precious granddaughter, Kela Thien Kim Mattingly, also of Hoi An, Viet Nam. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Joel (Lori) Mattingly of Dandridge, Tennessee and sister-in-law Glenna (Tom Bair) Bryant of Wilmington, Ohio; many nieces and nephews, and hundreds of her loving friends and past co-workers from both sides of the world. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Gary Hollis. Linda graduated Summa Cum Laude from Cumberland College in Williamsburg, Kentucky, now The University of the Cumberlands, where she met Dennis. She also graduated from Miami University of Ohio with her Master's Degree. For nearly three decades she was a special education teacher at East Clinton High School, and spent another six years working at the Southern Educational Service Center and with students at East Clinton, Blanchester, Clinton Massie and Wilmington High Schools. She was a faithful member of The Sabina Church of Christ since 1984 and volunteered for many of the church’s outreach programs, but her favorites were providing meals for families dealing with the loss of a loved one and the church's food pantry. After retirement, she became a member of The First Baptist Church of Dandridge, Tennessee and also attended Pishon Christian Church in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam. Visitation will be held at the Sabina Church on Christ on December 29, 2022 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm, followed by services. A dinner will be served at the church after the services.
