Lester ‘Bud’ Cole, age 76, of Wilmington, passed unexpectedly on Monday, January 2, 2017.
Born in Wilmington on February 20, 1940, the son of James and Zora Grooms Cole.
Bud served in the United States Army. He worked for Clinton Asphalt, WKW Construction and retired from Airborne, property maintenance. He enjoyed playing pool, golfing, horseshoes, bowling, playing the guitar, and camping. Bud was the New York State Champion 9-Ball player, and loved being with his grandchildren.
Bud is survived by his loving wife, Linda Holden Cole. Also surviving are his children, Lawrence Buchs of Pt. Ritchey, FL, Mick (Lisa) Hodge of Pleasant Plain, Lori (Kirk) Honeycutt and Rusty (Tammy) Cole both of Wilmington, Mindy (Ethan) Cole of New Vienna; daughter in-law, Yvonne Buchs of Florida. Also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren: Jeffrey (Jennifer) Hodge, Jacob and Jennifer Honeycutt, Hali Hodge, Douglas Honeycutt, Dani (Matt) Hodge, Rusty Jr. (Heather) Cole, James Buchs, Marissa Cole, Miranda Cole, Megan Honeycutt, Erin Drake, Tyler Buchs, Michael Buchs, Aly Drake, Ethan Howard, Jr., Lorraine Buchs; great-grandchidlren: Jack and Josie Honeycutt, Zayla Cole, Aviana Cole, and Sophia Buchs; brother, Bob (Freeda) Cole; sisters: Evy (John) Tedrick, Jane (Robert) Hampton, and Susie Cole; and special friend, Leroy Houchins; along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bud is preceded in death by his beloved son, Jimmy Buchs; sisters, Bonnie Cole and Mary Cole; and brothers, Harold Cole and James Cole.
Family will receive friends at Littleton Funeral Home on Thursday, January 5, 2017, from 4-7pm. Funeral services will be on Friday, at 1pm, burial to follow at New Antioch Cemetery with Military Honors.
