Lawrence Eugene “Larry” Starcher, 79, of Sabina left this earth on September 29, 2024, as he did everything else: on his terms. His wife of 58 years, Bonnie Stewart Starcher, whom he married March 27, 1966, survives.
Larry was born in Stark County, Ohio on February 20, 1945, to Clarence and Wilma Starcher and spent much of his youth in Sabina with his beloved grandparents, Harley and Ethel Reese. He was a graduate of Sabina High School and served proudly in the United States Marine Corps. Later in life he was active in the Sabina Moose Lodge and the Sabina Masonic Lodge #324.
In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by his three children and their spouses: Steven and Michelle Starcher; Angela and David Cohen; and Robyn Starcher and Steven Pryor. Also mourning his loss are his six grandchildren: Isaac, El, and Ezra Starcher; Leah and Lane Morgan; and Stella Cohen. Larry’s surviving siblings include brother Dale Starcher and his wife, Kathy; brother Lyle Starcher; and sisters Lois Starcher, Sherry Tolle, and Mary Francis.
Larry was a superior example of a self-taught craftsman, possessing tremendous skill in plumbing and welding, often volunteering his talents to assist many friends and family with home projects. As a welder he made customer requests come to life and helped many area farmers with impeccable equipment repairs. He loved his garden and often shared the fruits of his labor with neighbors. Larry was also secretly a poet, expressing his thoughts on life and loss in writing rather than spoken words, and his poems will serve as valuable keepsakes for his family.
His wife Bonnie and his children would like to thank the staff of Copper Knoll Health and Rehabilitation Center in Washington Court House, OH for their kindness and patience as they cared for Larry, whose stubbornness and silliness kept them on their toes.
A visitation will be held at Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 10am - 12pm. A Masonic service will take place at 11:45am, followed by a procession to Sabina Cemetery for a graveside service.
Memorial contributions would be greatly appreciated to the Copper Knoll Activity Fund (https://gofund.me/41c8db41).
