Laura Virginia Slagle, age 91, went peacefully to her eternal heavenly home on Thursday, February 2, 2017.
Born on June 1, 1925, in Clinton County, she was the daughter of Clarence “Rufus” and Edith Marie ‘Hart’ Thompson.
Laura was a devoted homemaker. She loved to spend time camping at Cave Lake.
Laura is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Slagle, in 2005.
She is survived by her children: Connie Benner of Madison Mills and Gary (Jenny) Slagle of Wilmington. Also left to cherish Laura’s memory are grandchildren: Bobby, John, Debbie, Jason, Traci, Megan, and Shevonna; seven great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; a brother, Jim Thompson of New Antioch; and former son in-law Larry Brannon.
In addition to her husband, Laura is preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine Brannon; son in-law, David Benner; grandchild, Robin Truman; and brothers, Charles, Dale, Wayne and George Thompson.
Family will receive friends at Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, on Saturday, February 4, 2017, from 12-1pm, when a funeral will begin. Burial will follow at New Antioch Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Activities Fund at Wilmington Nursing and Rehab, 75 Hale St. Wilmington, 45177.
Laura’s family cannot thank the staff at WNRR enough for all the compassion, love and care for Laura for the last 11 years. Also, special thanks go to Becky, Nathan, Dr. Mary Inwood, Community Care Hospice, and Dr. Pedalino and staff.
