Lanasue Carey, age 76, of New Vienna, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday morning, January 28, 2024, at The Ohio State University Medical Center.
Born October 15, 1947, in Columbus, she was the daughter of Raymond and Betty J. Conklin Bloom.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Robert Carey, whom she married August 23, 1969.
A 1965 graduate of New Kenton High School, Lanasue went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in education at The Ohio State University. She was a Paraprofessional at New Vienna Elementary, where she knew and loved every student. In her earlier years, she was a cub scout Den Mother and throughout the years a member of the New Vienna Jr. Mother’s Club, Member and Officer of Ohio Veterinarian Medical Association Auxiliary, Ohio State Alumni Association, loved to do crafts and was one of the best cooks around and also famous for her “Snicker Doodles”. Also, an active member of the East Clinton Drama Club and always helped with makeup and costumes. She loved all of her family more than anything.
In addition to her husband, Lanasue is also survived by her children: Douglas, Kevin (Carrie), Matthew (Nyhla) Carey; grandchildren: Carter (Micaela Mills) Carey, Katie, Carson, Kenley, Olivia and Paige Carey; and a sister, Brenda Bloom of Wilmington.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith in Christ Church, 11576 SR 28, New Vienna.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 4:00 P. M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Faith in Christ Church, New Vienna. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, at the church, at 11:00 A.M. Burial to follow at High Top Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina.
