Katherine L. (Hubbell) Smith

Katherine L. Smith, age 75, of Wilmington, passed unexpectedly at Miami Valley Hospital on Sunday, October 7, 2018.

Born in Sabina on June 28, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Ruth Anne Nevergall Hubbell.

Katherine is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde L. Smith.  The two were married on March 10, 1961, and were married almost 35 years before his passing.

Katherine was a Wilmington High School graduate.  She worked in various positions at Clinton Memorial Hospital, where she retired as a scheduling coordinator.  After retirement, Katherine worked as a receptionist for Dr. Brown’s office and, later, retired from there.  She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, shopping and antiquing.  Katherine loved taking rides in the car and traveling; she also had a real passion for history of any kind.

She leaves behind her children: Mark S. Smith, Elizabeth Smith, and Lorrie Smith, all of Wilmington, and daughter, Paige Smith of Clinton, KY.  Also left to cherish her memory are grandchildren: Ryan Roussel, Meghan Roussel, Matt Smith, Zach Smith, Katie Bailey, Keith Bailey, Jacob O’Neal, Nathan Smith and Victoria O’Neal; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Janet ‘Sis’ Brewer of Lynchburg; brother, Joe Hubbell of Georgia; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband, Katherine is preceded in death by a grandson, Josh Smith, and her sister, Lucy Steritz, who was instrumental in her upbringing.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, from 11-12:30pm, when a funeral service begin.  Burial to follow at New Antioch Cemetery.
