John 'Nick' Hammond

John Nicholas Hammond, known lovingly by his friends and family as "Nick," took his last earthly journey as he departed to be with the Lord on the evening of April 22, 2023. He was born on April 1, 1983, to John and Linda (Perry) Hammond and, from the moment of his birth, was a source of joy to all who knew him. Nick was a genuine and selfless friend, uncle, brother, and son. He was a truly rare and radiant spirit. No one who knew him would deny his tremendous heart and his wildly impassioned sense of adventure and curiosity of the unusual and the unknown.

He had a vast knowledge of all things that touched his heart or that filled him with a sense of adventure. Nick was also a jokester and prankster who always carried his childlike sense of humor and contagious lightheartedness with him wherever he went, despite any circumstance.

He was a huge classic rock fan, his all-time favorite being Buddy Holly. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, and an adamant collector of sports memorabilia and music records. Nick also had an unshakeable love of the outdoors, always planning a new camping trip or a day to go fishing. He also had a great love for animals and had many cats and dogs throughout his life whom he adored, especially his German Shepherds, and his beloved rescue, Vander.

Nick is survived by his mother, Linda of Jamestown, along with adoring sisters: Julie (Joe) Kingery of Sabina and Joy (John) Stewart of Cedarville.  Also left to cherish his memory are nieces and nephew: Lisa (JB) Tompkins, Jordy Stewart, Shannon Kingery, Jonna (Nathan) Raffel and Caitlin Kingery; great-nieces and nephews: Tristan, Leighton, Jace, Graysen, Adalee, Chandler, and Holden; along with a host of friends.  He was preceded in death by his father, John Hammond.

Friends and family are invited to gather at Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, on Friday, April 28, 2023, from 1-4pm, when a funeral service will commence.  Following the services, all are invited to participate in a time of fellowship at The Cove, 185 S. College St., Sabina.
