Joann (Rose) Patterson

JoAnn Rose Conard Patterson, age 90, of Wilmington, passed peacefully at Cape May on Thursday, February 8, 2024.

Born in Gassaway, West Virginia on July 23, 1933, she was the daughter of Edgar Camden and Mary Myrtle ‘Brady’ Rose.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, James H. Patterson, in 2019.

JoAnn was a 1951 graduate of Blue Creek High School.  She worked and retired as a Social Worker.  In her retirement, JoAnn worked in the daycare center at the YMCA.  She enjoyed bluegrass festivals and her grandchildren’s school sporting events.

She is survived by children: Brocke (Brigid) Conard of Lebanon, Jeff (Becky) Conard of Wilmington, Jon (Martha) Conard of Colorado, Hugh (Kim) Conard of Wadsworth, and Rhonda (Harland, dec.) Mikesell of Englewood, Diana Patterson Groves of Wilmington, Kathy (Chet) Gregory of Union, KY, and Jeff (Jennifer) Patterson of Sabina; and former son in-law, Bret Lunsford.  In addition, surviving grandchildren include: Amber (Shane) Carter, Josh (Megan) Conard, Matt (Cassandra) Conard, Tyler (Sierra) Conard, Nick (Alesa) Lunsford, Mark Lunsford, Stacy Lunsford, Todd (Lauren) Mikesell, Scott (Karli) Mikesell, and Courtney Mikesell, Danny (Kristin) Conard, Billy Conard, Scott Conard, Katie (John) Dove, Suzie Stanton, Sarah, Lauren, and Bailey Conard, Joe (Kaye) Conard, Shannon Kolakowski, Ashley (Lane) Kidd, Nathan Mitchell, Chris Patterson, Joel Groves, Shawn (Mallory) Patterson, Afton Hiles, Lindsay Patterson, Caleb (Jessie) Gregory; along with 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, JoAnn was preceded in death by seven siblings.

Family will receive friends at Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, from 11am-1pm, when a funeral service will begin.  Burial to follow at New Antioch Cemetery.
