Jane Tillis, age 82, of Washington Court House, was called home by her heavenly Father in the early morning hours of Saturday, November 7, 2020.
She was born on December 27, 1937, to Alfonso (Allie) and Cora Sword Dearth in Fayette County, one of 17 children.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 43 years, Charles E. Tillis Sr. whom she married March 1955 in Wilmington. She is also preceded by a daughter in-law, Dorothy Tillis and son in-law Steven Baker. All of her husband’s brothers and sister, as well as his parents, Walter G. and Dorcas (Woodruff) Tillis; Jane's brothers, Gene, James and Herbert, and sisters, Mary Brien, Dora Barber, Barbara Rowe, Betty Lykins, Helen Leach, Lulabelle Patton and Marth Gartin also precede her in death.
She leaves behind brothers: Gary (Dixie) of Peebles, Homer (Annie) of Georgetown and Bill (Betty) of Washington Court House; as well as sisters: Mildred Whitt of Enon, Kathi (Virgil) Jones and Karen (Herman) Rayburn of Washington Court House. Also left to cherish her memory are children: Charles Tillis, Jr of Indiana, Robin Baker of Jeffersonville, Carol (Jerry) Lee of South Salem, Brenda (Gary) Burkett, Gregg (Penny) Tillis, Brian Tillis; daughter in-law, Nancy Tillis all of Washington Court House; 12 grandchildren: Melissa Tillis, Michael and Teah Baker, Jason Kidder, Skylar and Jordan Charles, Kendra (Bob) Ryan, Chad (Lori) Arnold, April (TJ) Keaton, Amy (Brian) Tru, Nathan and Courtney Tillis; 21 great grandchildren: Claiden and Caiden, Rhiley and Kamron, Elleson, Emilia, Emmalyn Jane- her namesake, Ben Morrison, Davaughn and Joshua Golden, Brittany, Janette, Michael II, Kayliegh, Kiley and Julian Baker, Jaliegh Johnson, Blayne Hurles, Jarod Curtis, Jraevon and Romulus Kidder; along with great-great grandchildren: Lauren, Hank, Jayden, Khalia and Theo. She had several friends and a host of nieces and nephews and her family at the Southside Church of Christ.
Memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Heritage Church, Fund for the Morrison Family.
There will be no visitation. A public graveside service will be held at noon on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at the Sugar Grove UMC Cemetery on SR 41. Littleton Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
