James “Jim” R. Goodbar, age 84, passed on Monday, February 27, 2017 in Jamestown.
Born on November 27, 1932, Jim was the son of late Cecil and Cleo Tidd Goodbar.
He was a 1950 graduate of Jefferson High School in Bowersville. Jim worked for ODOT in various capacities and retired after 30 years. He was life member of the NRA, long time member of the Lions Club, past member of Bowersville Village Council, and a member of the Bowersville Church of Christ.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Sanderson Goodbar, who passed in 2012. The two were high school sweethearts and were married 62 years.
Jim is survived by his grandchildren, Shelly (Thomas) Akerman and Josh (Hannah) Goodbar, of Georgia, along with their mother Lisa (Jim) Thomas, and their daughter, Kylie. Also left to cherish his memory are great-grandchildren: Annabel and Jonah; a sister, Beverly (Robert) Caldwell, of Wilmington; and an aunt, Ruth (Bill) York, of Hillsboro; along with cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Jim is preceded in death by his son, Steven Goodbar; an infant brother, Robert W. Goodbar; and mother and father in-law, Milton and Mary Sanderson.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Bowersville Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be held at Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 12:30pm. Family will receive friends from 11am until the time of service. Burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bowersville.
