James E. Mitchell

James E. Mitchell, age 83, of McArthur, passed away on Saturday afternoon October 15, 2022, at the home of his son, Michael in Chillicothe.

Born October 8, 1939, in Sabina, he was the son of Lester B. and Mary Creditt Mitchell.

James was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. McCoy Mitchell, whom passed away in 2003.

A graduate of Sabina High School, James owned and operated Sohio stations in New Vienna and Wilmington.  He was also a manager of Dave Chaney Tire for many years, worked as a distributor for the Columbus Dispatch and was a driver for senior services around McArthur.  James was a member of the McArthur Church of Christ and an active member of the CMEA.

He is survived by his son, Michael Mitchell of Chillicothe, along with granddaughters: Katie Fout, Shawnna Shreve and Regan Mitchell.  Also left to cherish his memory are great grandchildren: Zachary, Caleb, Samuel, Elijah, Lilith, Ambrosia, Kylar and Ashton; and siblings: Mary Lou Downing, Norma Lee Farley, Vivian Lemmings, Joy Vance, Nancy Piatt and Robert Mitchell.

In addition to his wife, James was also preceded in death by his daughter, Christine Shreve; great grandson, Nicolai; and sibling: Betty Brown, Emmagene Palmer and Janet Dearth.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, from 5:00 P.M. until 7: 00 P.M at Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina. The funeral service will follow on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at the Sabina Cemetery.
