James R. Gilpen

James Richard Gilpen, Sr., age 43, of Sabina, passed unexpectedly on Monday, October 16, 2023.

Born on July 16, 1980, in Fayette County, he was the son of Barbara (Albert Knox) Gilpen.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Penny Morris Gilpen.  The two were united in marriage on June 21, 2002.

James worked for Amazon Air.  He enjoyed cooking, fishing, football, and baseball, but, above all, he cherished time with his family and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and mother, James is survived by children: Hailey (Andrew) Gilpen of Sabina, James (Abigail) Gilpen, Jr. of Washington Court House, and Carson Gilpen of Sabina.  Also left to cherish his memory are granddaughters, Ivory and Paisley; sister, Carrie Cottrell of Washington Court House; brother, Jeffery (Sarah) Gilpen of Sabina; and best friend, Mike Wilcox.

James was preceded in death by grandparents, Rosabelle and Richard Gilpen. The Family would appreciate contributions to the funeral home to help with expenses.

A celebration of life will be held at 2pm on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Bloomingburg Town Hall (62 Main Street, Bloomingburg, OH 43106).
