Jack Rittenhouse, age 81, of Sabina, passed on Thursday, June 21, 2018.
Born to the late the Pearl and Goldie (Lynch) Rittenhouse on August 6, 1936, Jack was a life-long Sabina resident.
He was a 1954 graduate of Sabina High School and was one of the all-time leading scorers in Sabina HS history. He attended George Washington University and played one year of college basketball, averaging 20 points per game. Jack joined the Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. Later, he retired from Clinton Memorial Hospital in 2007, after 23 years. He was a member of the Sabina Church of Christ and a longtime member of the VFW. In his retirement, Jack enjoyed reading, completing word searches, and spending time at Pauley’s Service Center in Sabina. He was fond of mowing grass and spending time outside.
Jack leaves behind his loving wife, Shirley Grove Rittenhouse. Also left to cherish his memory are his beloved step-children: Kelley Wilson, Karla Blair, Rick Grove, Charissa Summers, and Doug (Rose) Grove; step-grandchildren: Brandon Wilson and Britney (Tom) Rowlands, Corey (Arianna), Calen, and Craig Vinion, and Alisha Grove; along with three great-grandchildren. Jack is survived by three siblings: Connie Sue (Robert) Phillips, Arnold (Loretta) Rittenhouse, and Larry Rittenhouse; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by wife, Jeanne Rittenhouse, who passed in 1996; and siblings: Albertine Cramer, Dee Buckley, Bill Rittenhouse, Wayne Rittenhouse, Phyllis Reese and Charlotte Rittenhouse.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Sabina Church of Christ.
Friends may call at the Sabina Church of Christ on Monday, June 25, 2018, from 11am-1pm, when a funeral service will begin. Burial will follow at Centerville Cemetery, Lees Creek. Arrangements have been entrusted to Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina.
