Gordon L. Deck

Gordon L. Deck, 79, of Wilmington, retired MSGT 160th ARG Ohio, passed away on Saturday September 24, 2022, at home, surrounded by his loving family in the same farmhouse where he was born, December 2, 1942. The youngest son of the late Oscar and Mildred Curtis Deck.

Gordon is survived by his wife of more than 60 years Dorrena "Dee" Plummer Deck whom he married August 3, 1962.

He was a graduate of Wilmington High School, where he sang in "The Wilmingtones" and played the trumpet in the band. He owned and operated Deck's Garage, a small business specializing in Automatic Transmission Repair located in Martinsville, and later Madison Mills. He started his Air Force career at the Clinton County Air Force Base and retired as a Master Sergeant in the 160th Air Refueling Group (ARG) Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base, Columbus Ohio. Gordon completed over 28 years including a tour in Operation Desert Storm. After retiring he enjoyed farming the Deck Family Farm with the help of his sons. He was a gentle man and a friend to many. He had a love for animals. A member of the Sabina Church of Christ with his home church being New Antioch Church of Christ. He and Dee were founding members of the Mt. Sterling Church of Christ.

He is survived by his sons: Christopher (Laura Walls) Deck and Curtis (Lisa) Deck. Also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren: Leah Deck (Alex Meyer), Chloe Deck (Ethan Grooms); his beloved Golden Retriever, Sadie and his dachshunds, Spot and Aussie; special nephew, Matt Deck; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Gordon was preceded in death by twin daughters, Carol and Carla Deck in 1969; brothers, Robert, John, David and beloved nephew, Michael Deck. In addition, by special Golden Retriever Duke and many other fur friends.

Visitation will be on Thursday September 29, 2022, at Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. with the funeral service on Friday at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be at the New Antioch Cemetery.
