Geraldine ‘Jerry’ Mitchell, age 84, of Sabina, passed peacefully, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, February 1, 2017.
Born in Fayette County on December 2, 1932, she was the daughter of William C. and Clara Belle ‘Bolden’ Bennington.
Jerry is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert B. Mitchell. The two were married on November 10, 1953.
In addition to being a devoted homemaker, she owned and operated J & J Restaurant in Sabina, with her daughter, Joni, for 16 years. Jerry was extremely family oriented, loved to cook and bake. She also enjoyed fishing and shopping.
Jerry is also survived by her children: Neal (Juleah) Dewitt, Joni (Gerrie) Greene, R. Timothy (Mary Ann Morris) Mitchell, all of Sabina, and Lori Saffell, of Olive Branch, Mississippi. Also left to cherish her memory are nine grandchildren: Shawn, Mindy, Anthony, Jeremy, Krystal, Amber, Damian, Jessica and Erin; ten great-grandchildren; and sisters: Wilma Jean Wynne, Betty Lou Fleak, Mary Ann Cockerill, and Shirley Speakman.
She is preceded in death by two sisters, Dolly Jenkins and Wanda Boldman, and one brother, Clyde Bennington.
Family will receive friends at Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, on Sunday, February 5, 2017 from 12-2pm when a funeral service will begin. Burial will follow at Sabina Cemetery.
