Eva Leona Wallace Botts, age 92, of Wilmington, passed peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2020.
Born on September 4, 1927, in Clinton County near Westboro, she was the daughter of Wilbur and Mary Grace (Duke) Wallace.
Because her parents were Superintendent and Matron of the facility, Eva lived at the Clinton County Infirmary until her graduation from Wilmington High School in 1945. She later moved to Bowersville, where she met her first husband, Dale Vanniman. Eva retired from NCR Dayton, after nearly 30 years.
She was a member of Center United Methodist Church in Fayette County for over 50 years. During that time, Eva served in various capacities. She then became an active member of the Presbyterian Church in Wilmington and continued the be a devoted Christian who loved God, her family, friends, her church and music.
Eva’s hobbies included painting and knitting; she made several afghans and sweaters for friends and family. Her passion painting led her to become a member of the Leesburg Brush and Palette Art Guild, where she was president for two years. She was also a member of a Painting for Pleasure group, the Dayton Painters and Sculptures Association and even won some awards. Her passion for helping others led her to become a volunteer for Clinton Memorial Hospital, where she was a member of the CMH Foundation Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, Eva was preceded in death by her husbands, Dale Vanniman and Elon Ward Botts; and brothers: Max, Jack D., James L., and infant, Billy Lee Wallace.
Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Ruthanna ‘Doodle’ (Ben) Hargrave; sisters in-law: Jody Wallace, Elma Rossell and Mary Alice (William ‘Bud’) McConnell; brother in-law, Paul (Pam) Botts; nieces: Jackie (David) Poske, Claudia Fowler, Peggy Jane Wallace, Glenda (Michael) Floyd, Brenda Day, and Benita (Dudley) Langley; nephews: Dwight (Leslie) Wallace, Michael (Pat) Wallace, Roger (Christine) Wallace and Ben Hargrave; along with several great and great-great nieces and nephews; step-daughter in-law, Sue Botts; and step-grand and great- and great-great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Presbyterian Church of Wilmington.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, June 27, 2020, at the Presbyterian Church of Wilmington, from 10-11am, when a funeral service will begin. Burial to follow at Woodland Cemetery, Bowersville. Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina has been entrusted with arrangements.
