Edith A Perry

June 24, 1947 — October 9, 2023

Wilmington

Edith A. Perry, age 76, of Wilmington, passed peacefully on October 9, 2023.

Born in Schwalbach, Germany, on June 24, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Fritz and Elle Speiss.

In 1966, with two little girls, Edith immigrated to the United States from Germany.  Knowing no English, she taught herself the language by reading the TV Guide and watching General Hospital.  Edith worked hard to make her ‘American Dream’ a reality.  She and her husband, Jerry Perry, owned and operated Silver Shears Salon in Wilmington.

Edith loved to garden and spend time outside.  She was an avid vacationer, enjoyed traveling and loved riding motorcycles with Jerry.  Edith was larger than life, she loved to have a good time!  She could hold a secret, was very trustworthy and never, ever, judged others.

She is survived by children: Ruby Vanscoy of Wilmington, Jerry Perry, Jr. of Cincinnati, Darrell Perry of Leesburg, and Anna (Shawn Beatty) Perry of Wilmington.  Also left to cherish her memory are grandchildren: Robert ‘Bo’ Teboe, Megan Teboe, DJ Perry, Dawson Perry, Mackenzie Sargent, Emma Beatty and Isabella Beatty; great-grandchildren: Makaelynn, Rayden ‘Bear’, Maleiah, Isiaah, and Lucas; sister, Karin Davis of Alabama; brother Munfred Speiss of Germany; and special nephew Michael Gray of Alabama.

Edith is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Perry, with whom she spent 48 years.  She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Anita Perry.

A casual gathering, in celebration of Edith’s life, will be held at the Wilmington VFW on Friday, October 13, 2023, beginning at 4pm.

Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, has been entrusted with final arrangements.
