Ed Long

August 12, 1939 — February 25, 2016

Ed Long, 76, of Wilmington, passed away on Thursday morning, February 25, 2016 at Clinton Memorial. He was born on August 12, 1939, in Madison County, the son of Lawrence and Goldie Exline Long.

A graduate of Simon Kenton High School and a Navy veteran, Ed retired from Lowes Garden Center. He was also a founding member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

Ed is survived by his wife, Barbara Wise Long, whom he married June 12, 1965.

Also left to cherish Ed’s memory are his children, Jeni (Shawn) Crowe and Monte (Melody) Long of Wilmington; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Jones, Brad (Jeni) Burgel, Adam Long, Lyndsey Crowe and Tori Crowe; Great-grandchildren, Nathan Jones, Landen Burgel, Ariah Heard, Andrew Jones, Brianna Burgel and Aliyas Heard; siblings, Grace (Roger) Everhart, Dorothy (Robert) LaPine and Carol (Irvin) Pollock; sisters in-law, Irma Carol Long and Sue Long; and brother in-law, Charles Adams.

Ed was preceded in death by siblings, Barbara Adams, Robert and Wayne Long.

Family will receive friends on Sunday from 1-3 PM, with a funeral service beginning at 3 PM at the Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina. Burial to follow in the Centerville Cemetery in Lees Creek.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Calvary Baptist Church Youth.
