Dorothy J. “Jackie” McMillan, age 91, of Wilmington and formerly of Lebanon, passed peacefully on Monday, February 27, 2017.
Born in Dallas, TX, on August 27, 1925, she was the daughter of Leonard E. and Martha J. Sparks Allen.
Jackie retired from working as a legal secretary. She was an accomplished writer with a blog of her own, a pianist, she loved to travel and spend time with her family.
Jackie is survived by her children, Sharon (Bill) Farmer, of Wilmington, and Scott (Kathleen) McMillan of Jacksonville, NC. Also left to cherish her memory are grandchildren: Maggie McMillan, Melanie (Alan) Clark, Trisha (Mark) Scott, Andy (Lacy Hatfield) Farmer and Aaron (Katie Cassidy) Farmer; five great-grandchildren; and sisters, Joan Day and Patricia Cunningham.
She is preceded in death by her former husband, Rev. Eddie McMillan; granddaughter, Hollie Marie Farmer; and sister, Virginia (Jim) Burnap; and brother in-law Joe Cunningham.
Jackie’s family wish to thank their family at Wilmington Nursing & Rehab for all the loving care and compassion, as well as the staff at Community Care Hospice.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Wilmington Nursing & Rehab activities fund.
Family and friends will gather for a graveside service on Friday, March 3, 2017 at Miami Valley Memory Gardens in Centerville, at 2pm.
