Doris Ann Swisshelm

May 2, 1941 — February 26, 2017

Doris A. Swisshelm passed peacefully to God, on February 26, 2017, after a long battle with cancer.

She was born on May 2, 1941, in Clinton County, to Earl and Mary Anna Swisshelm, who preceded her in death.

Doris graduated from Simon Kenton High School and The Jewish Hospital School of Nursing.  She relocated to Alexandria, AV and worked at George Washington Hospital in various capacities.  Doris later owned and managed The Scottish Merchant in Old Towne Alexandria.  She was well known for her love of Scotland and Scottish and Irish music.

Doris is survived by her twin sister, Dorothy Christensen, and three sisters: Mary Massey of Columbus; Mardi (Ray) Pabon of Easton, PA; and Sue (Eldon) Roseman of Mound City, MO.  Also surviving are one niece, Marti Hoffer; and nephews, Robert Massey, Douglas Massey, and Ray Pabon.

Memorial contributions are strongly suggested to Fairview Friends Meeting.

Family will receive friends at Fairview Friends Meeting on Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 10-11am, when a funeral service will begin.  Burial will follow at New Antioch Cemetery.
