Deron Eldon Wayne Crawford, age 57, of Sabina passed suddenly but peacefully at Miami Valley Hospital on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, after a short and valiant battle with cancer.
Deron was the son of the late Paul Wayne Crawford and Evelyn June (Burton) Crawford. He was also preceded in death by his cherished sister Stephanie Crawford.
Deron is survived by his aunts, Evonne (Carl) Crawford and MaryAnn (Donny) Burton; as well as many cousins he loved. David (Kay) Vandervort, Jody Trout, and Gabrielle (Vandervort) Gescheider were with him bedside as he drifted into the arms of our Lord.
Deron worked for the last 2 years at New Sabina Industries in the facilities maintenance department; he enjoyed his coworkers and staff. He had spent 27+ years working in maintenance at Walmart in Xenia.
Deron’s true love, after his family, was every aspect of sporting events and venues that the Pittsburgh Steelers football and Penguins Hockey teams performed, as well as any other out of state team he could support. Deron was a sports savant and had a special talent for statistics about the teams he followed. He had an enormous sports memorabilia collection that he treasured.
Deron was a kind and gentle, soft spoken, unassuming man of few words (unless it concerned sports) with a deep faith that was carried with him throughout his life. Deron enjoyed joking around with everyone and he had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by his closest family and friends.
Visitation will be at the Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, on April 22, 2024, from 11:30am until the time of service at 12:30pm. Burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bowersville.
