Cortney L. Carr

Cortney L. Carr, Sr., age 78, of Wilmington, passed Thursday, August 12th, 2021.

Born on January 27, 1943, in Wilmington, he was the son of Evelyn Jones Lake and Wilbur Carr.

Cortney is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sharon L. McKee Carr. The two were united in marriage on March 4, 1972.

Cortney was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked as a Supervisor in hazardous material processing at Wright Patterson AFB, where he retired after 36 years of service. During his retirement, Cortney worked for the Clinton County Sheriff's Department, as a correction officer, for 12 years. Cortney loved fishing, golfing, camping, coaching youth sports, and dogs; but was happiest spending time and sharing memories with his cherished family.

In addition to his wife, Cortney is survived by children: Cortney L. Carr, Jr. (Jennifer Dalton), Shannan L. Morris, Treva L. Rogers, and Andre L. Carr. Also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren: Antwan, Isiah, Morgan, Cymone, Erica, Cierra, William, Cortney III, Zoey, Brooklyn, Braydyn, Colton, Berklee, Eloise, Dejanah, Dabrianna; great grandchildren: Aviana, Zayden; brothers: Howard Lake, Brian Lake, Fredrick Lake, Ron Carr; and sister: Anita Perrin.

Cortney was preceded in death by his parents and Frank Wilson Lake also brothers, Allen Lake and Welsey Allen Johnson.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Fellowship of Praise, Clarksville, from 11-1pm, when a funeral service will begin. Burial to follow at Sabina Cemetery. Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, has been entrusted with arrangements.
