Chester “Leo” Lewis, age 101, of Leesburg, passed away on October 17, 2017 at the Georgetown Ohio Veterans Home. He was born on November 10, 1915 in Adams County to James and Mary McCall Lewis. He was preceded by his first wife, Velma Lewis in 1997 and his second wife, Rachel Moore Lewis in 2017. Chester was engaged in farming for many years and was also a WWII veteran having served his country in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his daughter, Leona (Bob) Knisley of South Lebanon; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Lewis of Leesburg; six grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and sister, Ethel Carter of Washington Court House. His son, David Lewis of Leesburg, preceded him in death as well as siblings, Grover Lewis and Elsie Chamblain. Funeral services will be held at Walnut Hill CCCU Church on Thursday, October 19, 2017, at 2 p.m. Calling hours will be from 1-2 p.m. prior to service. Burial will take place at the White Oak Cemetery in Buena Vista. If desired, contributions may be made to the Georgetown Ohio Veterans Home Activity Fund.
