Cary M. Hodson, 96, of New Vienna, passed away at his home on Saturday February 19, 2022.

Cary was born at home in Clinton County on February 13, 1926 the son of Cary and Irene Behymer Hodson. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Brandenburg Hodson whom he dated in high school and married on August 14, 1948 after returning from the war. Cary served in the Army mostly in Germany during World War II.

Cary also attended Wilmington College after returning from the service studying mechanical engineering.  He then worked for National Cash Register and Cincinnati Milicron throughout his life as a design engineer while also working on the family farm.  He retired from Milicron in 1984.

A member of Fairview Friends Meeting and the American Legion, Cary loved to read, do crosswords and enjoyed nature. He also loved to cut and split wood which he did until recently.

Cary is also survived by his children; Thomas (Helen) Hodson of Wilmington, Lynette Turner of Hillsboro, and Tim (Sally) Hodson of New Vienna. Grandchildren; Joe (Jessica) Hodson, Jackie (Jeff) Poeppelman, Jennifer Hodson, Brent (Cindy) Robinson, Ben (Gail) Hodson and Beth Hodson. Great grandchildren; Kate, Drew, Ellie, Abby, Cami, Ethan, Brayden (Paige), Chloe, Tyler, Dylan, Austin, Gavin, Jaxson and Grayson. Cary was preceded in death by his brother Thomas R. Hodson and a granddaughter Lorelle L. Grooms.  A public graveside service will be held on Friday February 25, 2022 at 2:30 P.M. at the Centerville Cemetery, Lees Creek.

A private family visitation will take place before the burial.  Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions are suggested to The Salvation Army.
