Betty M. (Grooms) Ailshire

Betty M. Ailshire, age 86, of Sabina, passed peacefully at St. Catherines on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.

Born in West Union on September 2, 1935, she was the daughter of Chester J. and Mabel Irene ‘McKenzie’ Grooms.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Russell Ailshire.

For 13 years, Betty worked at McCall’s in Melvin; followed by 35 faithful years with Bob and Carl’s Grocery in Wilmington.  She was steadfast in her devotion to her family. Betty enjoyed telling anyone that would listen about her grand and great-grandchildren and was happiest spending time with them.   In her younger years, she enjoyed baking and cooking for her cherished family, as well as attending the grandkid’s ball games.

Betty is survived by her daughter and son in-law, Linda and John Cox of Wilmington.  Also left to cherish her memory are grandchildren: Mallory (John) Dittly of Cincinnati, Tiffany Ailshire of Michigan, Stephanie (Chad) Seaman and Justin (Karissa) Cox, all of Wilmington; eleven great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Ailshire; and siblings: Coleman Grooms and Edna Bean.

Family will receive friends at Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, on Friday, June 3, 2022, from 11am until 12Noon, when a funeral service will begin.  Burial to follow at Centerville Cemetery, Lees Creek.
