Bess McCann Stamm, 89, passed at sunset on July 12, 2016 peacefully at home with her family by her side.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Norman B. Stamm, youngest daughter Jane (Stamm) Cluley, sisters Mary (Holly) Hollister, Jean (David) Quam, a brother Willard (Bill) (Annie) McCann, and a niece Jeanie Hollister.
Born 11/13/1926 to John P. McCann and Grace Martin McCann. She spent her entire life in the Sabina/Lees Creek area. A member of Sabina Friends. She has lived the last 50 years on her beloved farm on Clement Road. She worked many years planting and nurturing most of the trees around the Homestead. An avid reader; her book collection adorns the great room of the home she cherished.
Having discovered a passion and talent for education, and an inherent love of children, she taught 35+ years at various schools in Clinton County; retiring from Wilmington City Schools. As a dedicated teacher she was a mentor and role model to many students.
Surviving family are a daughter Karen Lambert, a son D. John (Vicki) Stamm, a sister Virginia (Bob) Conklin, grandchildren Lenny (Lacey) Cluley, Kati (Jason) Wilson, and many nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, a great-great granddaughter, and special friends Thelma Hubbard, Susanne Kenney and Charlotte Bland.
She has made an anatomical donation to the Ohio State University. A memorial service and dedication will be held at a later date. Friends may contact the family by phone between 10-6 p.m. at (937) 987-2292.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that if you wish to remember Bess, please make a donation to the Sabina, New Vienna or Wilmington public library, Wilmington City Schools department of Special Education, Wilmington College,Wilmington Parks and Recreation or the University of Dayton in her honor.
