Barbara Anne (Runk) Scranton

Barbara Anne Runk Scranton, age 80, of Sabina, passed unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 30, 2019.

Born on October 1, 1938, in Xenia, the daughter of  late Clarence Runk and Margaret Ballard Camden Little.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Ralph Scranton, who passed in 2002.  The two were married on April 8, 1957.

A graduate of Xenia High School, Barbara attended Cincinnati Bible College.  She was a life-long member of the Sabina Church of Christ.  After working as an assistant at Thomas Wood Accounting Firm, she later retired, as a clerk for the Village of Sabina, after over 30 years.  Barbara was an avid camper with her husband, Ralph, loved spending time with her friends at Sabina Senior Citizens and loved all her friends at Studio Revive.  She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Toni (Jim) Frederick; grandchildren: Daniel (Ashley) O’Dell, Robyn (Brandon Page) O’Dell and DeeAnne (Matthew Wiese) Frederick.  Also left to cherish her memory are great grandchildren: Josie and Trinity O’Dell and Terrence Ford; great-great grandchild, Landyn Lacey; siblings: Brenda (Ron) Lockhart, Debbie Howard and George Camden, all of Xenia; and Ginny (Mike) Craig of Warrensburg, MO; along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her daughter, Christian Scranton, and brothers: Thomas and Jerry Runk.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Sabina Church of Christ.

Family will receive friends at the Sabina Church of Christ on Friday, August 2, 2019, from 10:30-12Noon, when a funeral service will begin.  Burial will follow at Sabina Cemetery.  Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina has been entrusted with arrangements.
