Alfred Oren Kendall, age 89, of Sabina, passed peacefully on Thursday, October 11, 2018.
Born in Morrisville, Ohio on March 6, 1929, the son of the late Robert and Doris Swisshelm Kendall, Alfred grew up near Snowhill.
He is preceded in death by his wife of almost 67 years, Viola Louise Kendall, who passed July 8, 2016. The two were married on August 29, 1949.
A graduate of 1947 New Vienna High School, Alfred was a member of IOOF Star of Orphan Hope Lodge 182 in Martinsville; he joined on September 1, 1947. In 1949, he joined the Star of Hope 127 Hiawatha Encampment #70. Alfred was a past officer of both lodges. He was a lifelong farmer, an East Clinton bus driver for 18 years, and worked for ASCS – now Farm Service Agency – since 1950 as a field reporter. Alfred was a past member of the New Vienna Church of Christ. He was also a member of Power Club, Sabina 2000, Sabina Historical Society, Sabina Senior Citizens and the Farm Bureau.
Alfred is survived by daughter, Regina (Milton) Vandervort, of Wilmington, and sons, Rickey Kendall and Ronald (Vicki) Kendall, of Sabina. Also left to cherish his memory are step-grandchildren: Chad, Chris, and Scott Hamilton; great-grandchildren: Bryce, Brenton, Brooklyn, and GageHamilton; sisters: Dorothy Taylor and Peggy Kendall; brother in-law, Clarence Cramer; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Alfred is preceded in death by sisters, Leatha Schroeder and Erma Crider; brother, Robert Dale Kendall; and great-grandson, Braden Hamilton.
Memorial contributions are suggested to SRWW Joint Fire District 2.
Family will receive friends at Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, from 10:30am – 1pm, when a funeral service will follow an IOOF service. Burial will follow at Sabina Cemetery.
